Woven Whisky & Assembly Coffee WxC

Created by new-wave whisky blenders Woven in collaboration with London’s Assembly Coffee, this marries fruit-forward Scotch whiskies with a good measure of cold-brewed single-origin Colombian coffee (El Vergel Guava Banana, if you’re particular). Woven also adds a little dash of demerara sugar to the mix, but it’s just the merest hint – so the end result is still more on the side of “whisky” than “liqueur”. Roasty and rich, but not syrupy, it’s brilliant sipped neat or over a single big block of ice. It would also make a mean Espresso Martini. 44.5 per cent ABV, £40

Tengu Sake Kodakara Yuzushu

After dinner doesn’t have to mean dark spirits – I love the refreshing, zesty hit of a yuzu sake or yuzushu, served chilled in a little sweet-wine glass or over ice (in some parts of the Far East, yuzushu is also often enjoyed in winter mixed with hot water, as a toddy). This yuzushu is made at the Tatenokawa sake brewery with yuzus from Japan’s Shikoku Island, a hotspot for these knobbly yellow citrus fruits that have a tart and zesty fragrance with notes of grapefruit, lemon, lemongrass and mandarin. Bottled at just 8 per cent ABV, it’s a little gentler than your usual digestif. £30, thewasabicompany.co.uk
