The Hebbagodi police have arrested a 39-year-old cloth merchant and his friend for robbing ₹ 1.14 crore from the apartment of a businessman with whom they had got acquainted for few months.
The victim runs multiple business ventures. He used to keep cash from his income in his apartment in Bengaluru. The accused, identified as Srinivasa Murthy H.K., who runs a cloth shop in Chickpete, and his associate Arun Kumar B.N., 39, an electrician at NICE company, knew about the victim keeping huge sums of cash in his house, and decided to steal the money.
According to police officials, the duo did a recce of the house for a few days before breaking in on November 9, when the house owner and his family had gone to Kolar.
The accused did not use their mobile phones and covered their faces with helmets to avoid detection.
Based on the complaint, the police taken up a case and analysed over hudrred CCTV camera footage and in one of the footage they got the face of one of the accused.
