With an eye on the upcoming Assembly polls in 2026, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday (December 2, 2025) launched Unnayoner Panchali (Song of Development), a comprehensive report card of her government performance over the past 14 years.
“Next year, when May comes, our government will complete 15 years. We are presenting to the common people what our government has done in these 14 and a half years. We are responsible to the people of the State,” Ms. Banerjee said.
Documenting the panic in Bengal over SIR
Speaking to the media persons at the State Secretariat, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee spoke about 95 welfare schemes of her government and said that despite the Centre not releasing funds owed to the State of about 1.76 lakh crore she wants to maintain ties with the Union Government in the spirit of “cooperative federalism”.
Ms. Banerjee also highlighted that she does not engage in communal politics. “Bengal does not discriminate. We treat all communities equally. This is not a government that divides people. This is a government that protects everyone,” Ms. Banerjee said. The Chief Minister said that she would “resist any attempt” to unsettle the social fabric.
