The CDC’s vaccine advisory committee, known as the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, will meet December 4 and 5 and discuss several issues. A
ccording to the agenda posted on the CDC website, the committee will focus on Hepatitis B, the childhood and adult immunization schedule as well as contaminants in vaccines.
This year’s ACIP is significantly different than previous years. In June, Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr. fired all 17 sitting members and replaced them with 12 handpicked individuals. Several of the new members share similar vaccine skepticism that Kennedy has come under fire for from the public health community.
