Organizations spend extraordinary amounts of money on leadership development programs, coaching, and upskilling initiatives. Yet despite these investments, many employees show little measurable improvement in self-awareness, collaboration, or leadership effectiveness.

Drawing on 111 meta-analyses and more than 2.25 million participants, in June the psychology researchers Michael Wilmot, Brenton Wiernik, and Deniz Ones provided the most comprehensive review to date of how personality influences success in the workplace. Their conclusion is simple: If you want to understand how to live a successful life, start with understanding your own personality.
