Dec. 1 (UPI) -- Indiana state House Republicans released a new redistricting map Monday just ahead of a special session in a reversal of the state Senate, which declined to take up redistricting.

The new map appears to eliminate the seat of U.S. Rep. Andre Carson, D-Ind., who represents Indianapolis, by carving it into four different districts. It also splits the district held by Rep. Frank Mrvan, D-Ind., who represents Lake County, near Chicago.

On Nov. 14, Rodric Bray, president pro tempore of the Indiana Senate, said Republicans did not have enough votes "to move the [redistricting] idea forward."

President Donald Trump, who has pushed for states to redistrict, called Bray a "RINO," which stands for Republican in Name Only.
