Styx's Tommy Shaw says he remembers getting “goose pimples” the first time he heard a Chicago record.

“I couldn’t believe there was music that elaborate and soulful and it was still rock,” the singer/guitarist tells USA TODAY.

Shaw and the rest of the band will have ample opportunity to hear their fellow Midwestern-bred music legends when Styx joins Chicago for a 25-date summer co-headlining tour.

The Windy Cities Tour – All the Hits … Your Kind of Tour nods to the roots of, obviously, Chicago, as well as Styx, co-founded in 1972 by current members James “JY” Young and Chuck Panozzo, who hail from the Chicago suburbs.

This is the first time the perennial road warriors are teaming for a tour and Chicago founding member/trumpeter Lee Loughnane is already anticipating the fan appreciation.
