Belagavi will have two solid waste management facilities as the expanse of the city is larger than other towns, according to Satish Jarkiholi, Public Works Department Minister of Karnataka. He told officials to start work on these units as soon as possible, during the quarterly progress review meeting of various departments in the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha in Belagavi on November 29.
The Minister told officials to complete all works taken up under MP and MLA local areas development grant schemes. The district in-charge minister also told officials to properly maintain all relevant documents for the process. He said that he had directed the Deputy Commissioner and zilla panchayat CEO to monitor a few departments, and submit reports to the legislators concerned.
“This was decided in the last meeting. I want these officials to review each programme in detail. This will facilitate the speedy completion of pending work in various departments,” he said.
Rajya Sabha member Iranna Kadadi demanded that the grants received under the MLAs and MPs’ Area Development Funds be used properly and compliance reports be sent promptly.
He clarified that the district administration was complying with the orders of the Supreme Court about prohibiting loud noise during public gatherings and festivals using loudspeakers. He congratulated officers and staff who had completed the social and educational survey conducted by the backward classes commission on time.
