Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) on Thursday said the suspect in the shooting of two West Virginia National Guard members in Washington, D.C., earlier this week should be executed, declaring that he “doesn’t deserve to live.” (Watch video below.)One of those two service members, Sarah Beckstrom, has since died of her injuries, while the other, Andrew Wolfe, remains in critical condition as of Thursday.Authorities have identified the suspect in the case as 29-year-old Rahmanullah Lakanwal, an Afghan national. He entered the U.S. in 2021 as part of a resettlement program set up by the Biden administration following the U.S. military withdrawal from Afghanistan, but was granted asylum this year under the Trump administration, according to Reuters.Lakanwal has been charged with three counts of assault with intent to kill while armed and possession of a firearm during a crime of violence. The suspect is now expected to be charged with first-degree murder following Beckstrom’s death. In an interview with Fox News, Mace said the suspect “doesn’t deserve to live.”“I hope that the DOJ and the judge in this case will put this terrorist down,” Mace added.Mace also claimed that hundreds of “potential terrorists” crossed into the U.S. through the U.S.-Mexico border during the Biden administration, suggesting that it’s only a matter of time before they launch attacks on American soil.“We know that there are terrorist cells all across the country waiting to act,” Mace told Fox News. “We don’t know when, and so we’ve got to be vigilant, and we need to make sure that we don’t allow this sort of thing to happen again.”Close
