A multi-agency strategy to address mounting traffic congestion, infrastructure delays and pedestrian safety in Cyberabad took centre stage on Thursday as the Cyberabad police and Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) officials jointly identified priority junctions, key mobility challenges and urgent works that must be expedited across the IT corridor and surrounding areas.
The high-level coordination meeting was jointly chaired by Cyberabad Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Gajarao Bhupal and GHMC Zonal Commissioner Bhorkhade Hemant Sahadeorao along with other senior civic officials. Representatives from GHMC’s Serilingampally and Charminar zones, as well as project engineers and traffic heads from Madhapur, Medchal and Balanagar divisions attended the session.
On top of the agenda were solutions to ease congestion, complete stalled infrastructure works and improve pedestrian movement through underpasses, flyovers, foot-over bridges and skywalks. Officials also flagged waterlogging during rains, the need for dedicated two-wheeler service roads and the relocation of bus shelters to less obstructive points on busy stretches.
Special focus was placed on the IT corridor and the upcoming KNR project near IIIT junction, where alternative traffic routes were proposed to prevent gridlock during construction. Senior officers stressed that pending drainage systems and road repairs must be completed without delay to prevent seasonal bottlenecks and improve public convenience.
