The J&K Police searched premises of members of the banned Jamaat-e-Islami in seven districts of the Kashmir Valley and the capital city Srinagar on Thursday (November 27, 2025). Police officials said searches were carried out in Shopian, Anantnag, Awantipora, Shopian, Kulgam, Handwara, Budgam and Pulwama .
In Srinagar, police searched madrassas and masjids across all zones. Officials said the searches form part of a continued effort to dismantle the terror support ecosystem in Srinagar and to prevent any acts aimed at disturbing peace and public order. Search teams were accompanied by executive magistrates and independent witnesses

Police stressed that the operations will continue wherever credible inputs indicate the presence of individuals or materials linked to terror or radicalised activities.
“Acting on credible information regarding suspected unlawful activities and possible links with the JeI, the Handwara police conducted a raid at Jamia Islamia Institute, Waripora, Handwara. Electronic devices recovered during the operation have been seized and are being examined,” the police said.
