Forget Sony’s throwback 30th-anniversary design for the PlayStation 5 pad — one of the most impressive third-party, elite-level controllers for the Xbox Series X|S is celebrating Microsoft’s console history by combining top-tier modern technology with an iconic color scheme that makes a great pad even more irresistible.

The superb Revolution X Unlimited, which might be the best third-party controller for the Xbox alongside 2024’s brilliant Victrix Pro BFG, has been given a new lick of paint to mark 20 years of the Xbox 360. If the original outing’s understated black-and-green look didn’t turn your head, this Anniversary Edition reimagining, complete with multicolored buttons, is a pretty little thing.

It’s no surprise that the Revolution X Unlimited proved so excellent for pro players, or aspirational gamers; just seven months earlier, the Revolution 5 Pro pad for PlayStation — essentially the same controller, but without the LCD screen — offered a near-perfect high-end solution for players who wanted an asymmetric pad for the PS5, with all the bells and whistles you needed if you wanted to go from hobbyist to online contender.
