LONDON: Israeli forces shot and killed a 20-year-old Palestinian man on Wednesday in the town of Qabatiya, south of Jenin, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.

The ministry identified the victim as Osama Kmeil, who succumbed to his injuries after being shot in the abdomen during the Israeli military raid.

Israeli forces had deployed infantry units throughout Qabatiya, positioned sniper teams on rooftops, opened fire in multiple areas, and searched at least one home, according to the Wafa news agency.

The killing occurred amid an ongoing Israeli military offensive in the Jenin governorate and a new operation initiated this week in Tubas, the northeastern-most of the 11 governorates in the occupied West Bank.

Israel has now killed 57 Palestinians in the Jenin governorate since January’s offensive, according to Wafa.
