Nov. 26 (UPI) -- Two National Guardsmen and a suspect were shot and are hospitalized in unknown condition after a shooting near the White House on Wednesday afternoon.
One suspect is in custody and the scene is secured, the District of Columbia Police Department announced on social media at 1:58 p.m. EST.
The shooting occurred about two blocks northwest of the White House shortly before 2 p.m. EST on Wednesday afternoon.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said President Donald Trump has been briefed on the matter and White House staff are monitoring the situation.
