The Trump administration was dealt a major setback this week after a judge on Monday dismissed the indictments against former FBI Director James Comey and New York Attorney General Letitia James, ruling that Lindsey Halligan, the White House aide the Justice Department handpicked to serve as U.S. interim attorney to pursue some of the president’s political enemies, was unlawfully appointed.

Meanwhile, Sen. Mark Kelly (D-Ariz.) is fighting back after the Pentagon announced it would investigate him over a video he recorded with five other of his Democratic colleagues calling on the military to disobey illegal orders from the Trump administration.

“I’ve given too much to this country to be silenced by bullies who care more about their own power than protecting the Constitution,” the U.S. Navy veteran wrote on social media.

The president had previously suggested the six Democratic lawmakers who taped the video should be executed in a series of unhinged posts on his Truth Social platform.

Trump is also continuing to push for an end to the war in Ukraine. U.S. Army Secretary Dan Driscoll met with Russian officials in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday. The talks follow a joint statement from the U.S. and Ukraine, which said the two sides had worked on a “refined peace framework,” after an initial 28-point plan promoted by the Trump administration was heavily criticized as being too favorable to Russia.
