In all, 33711 polling stations are getting ready for the two-phased local body elections in Kerala scheduled for December 9 and 11.

The State Election Commission (SEC) has issued detailed guidelines with respect to the facilities required in the polling stations.

In three-tier panchayats, there will be 28,127 polling stations, while the municipalities and Corporations will have 3,569 and 2,015 stations respectively.

The district-wise breakup of polling stations are as follows: Kasaragod (1,370), Kannur (2,305), Wayanad (828), Kozhikode (3,097), Malappuram (4,343), Palakkad (3,054), Thrissur (3,282), Ernakulam (3,021), Idukki (1,192), Kottayam (1,925), Alappuzha (2,085), Pathanamthitta (1,225), Kollam (2,720), and Thiruvananthapuram (3,264).

All polling stations and activities related to the elections will adhere to the green protocol. Secretaries of the local bodies have been asked to put in place measures for the collection, segregation, and disposal of wastes on polling day. Wherever needed, the services of the Haritha Karma Sena will be made use of.
