Former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi was served notice on Tuesday (November 25, 2025) to vacate her official residence 10, Circular Road where she has been living with her husband and RJD chief Lalu Prasad, and other family members, for almost two decades. The Building Construction Department (BCD) has allotted Ms. Devi a new official bungalow — 39, Harding Road.
Ms. Devi has been the Leader of Opposition in the State’s Legislative Council for long.
10 Circular road in Patna has been a venue for party meetings and discussions for a long time. It was allotted to Ms. Devi in her capacity as a former Chief Minister.
BCD Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary confirmed the new allotment for Ms. Devi saying, “It has enough space and is designated for high-ranking officials.”
Sources in the government told The Hindu that the new allotment has been in accordance with a 2019 Patna High Court ruling which had quashed “lifetime bungalow allocations for former Chief Ministers as misuse of public funds”.
