LONDON: Lebanon’s Ministry of Interior on Tuesday praised its “ongoing security cooperation” with Saudi Arabia after the two countries successfully foiled an attempt to smuggle a quantity of drugs into Lebanese territory.
The ministry said the joint effort was part of a broader anti-narcotics strategy aimed at curbing trafficking networks operating across the region, Lebanon’s state news agency reported.
The ministry said the operation highlights “Lebanon’s unwavering commitment to confronting all smuggling attempts” and its refusal to allow the country to be used as a transit point for activities that could harm its national interests or relations with “sister countries.”
The ministry also praised the General Directorate of Internal Security Forces, commending its personnel for their “professionalism, commitment and perseverance” in carrying out sensitive security operations despite ongoing challenges.
