The days of free at-home COVID-19 tests may be over, but the virus certainly isn’t. With symptoms that overlap with the flu (runny nose, fatigue, headache) and vaccination rates against COVID-19 continuing to plummet (according to the CDC, only 6% of children and 14% of adults are up to date on their shots), it’s a smart idea to keep some rapid tests — especially if you’ve got holiday travel on the docket this Thanksgiving week.
These four-step tests are easy to perform at home.
First, open the liquid solution and add six drops in the test’s packaged testing.
Next, insert the nasal swab about 3/4 of an inch into one nostril and rotate it in circles to collect a sample, then repeat with the other nostril.
After that, place the swab inside the testing card’s open slot and turn it a few times. Wait 15 minutes, then read the result to see if it’s positive or negative. Simple, easy and (mostly) effortless.
