As someone who used to roll up to the gate in my boxiest sweatshirt and a pair of old leggings, I was always envious of travelers who looked put-together, like they could go straight from the airport to the next activity. But comfort always took precedence for me, and I was unsure that there was a best of both worlds. Turns out, there is: On my last flight from Los Angeles to New York, I tried out a matching lounge set I found on Amazon, and I don’t think I’ll ever go back.
Composed of a sweater and a pair of wide-leg sweatpants with a drawstring waist, this set by Etcyy New is so soft, with a relaxed fit that doesn’t look frumpy. The crewneck sweater has side slits and ribbing on the hem and arm cuffs. The arms also have a cute, very slight bishop sleeve effect on me, since they puff out just a little above the cuffs.
The pants are similarly stylish, with unhemmed edges and a flowy, flared fit that doesn’t feel restrictive. The two front pockets fit my iPhone or other small essentials (on the plane, I kept my AirPods case in there for safekeeping while I listened to music). I felt cozy enough in the set to nap almost the whole way through my red-eye flight.
Because I was flying in early January and had to navigate outside at the airport, I elected to wear a shirt under the sweater for extra warmth since it’s not super thick. I’ve since also worn the set as is, however, to dinner with a friend when it wasn’t 10 degrees out, and even just for lounging at home. The thinner feel of the sweater actually makes it more suitable for year-round use, since it’s easy to layer up when necessary. And even with the cold, dry air blasting on the plane, I stayed at a comfortable temperature.
