President Donald Trump on Thursday suggested that six Democratic lawmakers who urged military service members to stand up to the president by refusing any “illegal orders” from him be executed in a series of unhinged posts on his Truth Social post.
“SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR, punishable by DEATH!” he wrote in one of them.
Earlier, Trump claimed he signed a bill forcing the Justice Department to release the files it holds on late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein after both chambers of Congress approved the legislation.
“As everyone knows, I asked Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, and Senate Majority Leader John Thune, to pass this Bill in the House and Senate, respectively. Because of this request, the votes were almost unanimous in favor of passage,” he wrote.
However, Trump and his congressional allies had, for months, sought to block the bill before the president changed his tune over the weekend after it became clear there was enough support for it to clear the House. Besides, Trump could have already ordered the release of the files without an act of Congress.
