The first saplings grown from the iconic Sycamore Gap are set to be planted after the beloved tree was illegally felled, the National Trust has announced.

Researchers have been able to study the tree’s characteristics after it was felled illegally two years ago
The famous tree was illegally chopped down in the middle of the night in September 2023
Daniel Graham and Adam Carruthers, from Cumbria, are due to be sentenced on 15 July after being found guilty of felling the tree
The young tree was planted at Segedunum Roman Fort at Wallsend, North Tyneside.
The six shortlisted artists have been unveiled and the public ballot is open.
