n a sun-drenched September afternoon in New York City, 400 fans chase dance music phenom John Summit through Manhattan’s High Line park. It’s not a mob scene, but a planned one-mile run led by the DJ himself. Everyone dresses in matching, Lululemon-sponsored gear branded Experts Only—the name of Summit’s independent label—as the crowd heads toward the swanky Hudson Yards neighborhood.
The finish line: the Vessel, the 150-foot honeycomb-like artwork currently closed off with Lululemon x Experts Only signage. Summit’s remix of “Tokyo Drift” blares from inside and the jog quickly morphs into a dance party. Those who scored wristbands from the Lululemon giveaway earlier in the day get an intimate, hour-long surprise DJ set by Summit. The rest listen from outside the 16-story attraction, wishing they’d lined up sooner.
