Nov. 21 (UPI) -- Kelsie Whitmore went as the No. 1 overall pick in the first Women's Pro Baseball League draft, while Little League World Series icon Mo'ne Davis was picked 10th.

San Francisco selected Whitmore, a right-handed pitcher and outfielder from San Diego, to lead Thursday's 2025 WPBL Draft. The six-round event aired on Instagram, TikTok and YouTube.

"I'm so excited for this opportunity and to be drafted," Whitmore said on the broadcast. "[If} you ask a 6-year-old version of me about this opportunity and that it's happening right now, she would, one, probably not believe you, but two, just be so excited for it. I'm just grateful for the opportunity."

Each of the league's four teams -- San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York and Boston -- selected five players in each round. The draft order was determined through a random draw.
