Nov. 20 (UPI) -- Authorities in Gaza said Thursday that Israeli strikes killed at least 33 Palestinians and injured more than 80 across the strip in the past day in one of the deadliest flare-ups since the U.S.-brokered cease-fire came into effect Oct. 10.
The enclave's Hamas-run health ministry said in an update on social media that 12 children and eight women were among those killed, with 88 injured people being treated in various hospitals.
The ministry warned that the casualty figures could rise because there were "a number" of people buried beneath rubble and on roads where ambulance and civil defense crews had thus far been unable to reach them.
The two sides blamed each other for the violence.
