Pope Leo XIV said he prayed for peace on a visit to St Francis of Assisi's tomb in the Umbrian town Thursday.
At the tomb of St.
Francis I prayed for peace," said Leo as he left the monastery of the Augustinian nuns of Montefalco, where he celebrated Mass and had lunch with the nuns.
In the morning, the Pontiff had been in Assisi for a prayer in the crypt that houses the remains of the 'Poverello'.
"We are in Umbria, land of many saints," the Pope recalled.
