Former President Joe Biden plans to attend the funeral of former Vice President Dick Cheney that will be held in Washington, DC, on Nov. 20.
Former first lady Jill Biden will also be attending, a spokesperson for the former president confirmed to USA TODAY.
Cheney, the former American businessman and politician, died of complications of pneumonia and cardiac and vascular disease on Nov. 3 at the age of 84. His funeral is slated to take place at the Washington National Cathedral in Washington, DC, at 11 a.m. ET.
Considered the most powerful and the most controversial vice president in American history, Cheney served as vice president under George W. Bush for two terms from 2001 to 2009. In his role, he led the push to invade Iraq in 2003 and expand executive authority.
Bush, the former president, is slated to speak at the memorial. It’s not known if other presidents will be in attendance.
