Nov. 18 (UPI) -- Minors on Roblox no longer will be permitted to chat with adult strangers on the online children's gaming site part of a wider safety measure expansion.

Roblox users now will be required to undergo a facial recognition check before utilizing the Roblox chat feature for its 150 million daily players.

"We see it as a way for our users to have more trust in who the other people they are talking with are in these games," according to Matt Kaufman, Roblox's chief safety officer.

The gaming company has faced criticism in recent years over its underage users communicating with adults and obtaining access to inappropriate content.

Worried parents "should not let their children be on Roblox," company CEO Dave Baszucki said in March.
