New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani's transition team said it has raised more than $1 million in less than 10 days of fundraising.

The transition committee said on Nov. 16 that more than 12,700 people have donated to the fund with an average contribution of about $77.65.

Transition committees are often funded by a small number of high-dollar donors, but Mamdani is breaking with that tradition.

Mayor Eric Adams’ 2021 transition had 884 individual donors with an average donation of more than $1,000, and former Mayor Bill de Blasio's 2013 transition had 820 individual donors with an average donation of $2,392, according to Mamdani's team.

"None of this would have been possible without everyday New Yorkers willing to spare $5, $10, or $20 to help build a government that will deliver for working people," Mamdani said in a statement. "I’m grateful for every dollar New Yorkers have contributed to make this vision of an affordable, more livable city a reality."
