One lucky person in Georgia just won the Mega Millions jackpot.

On Friday, Nov. 14, a ticket purchased in Newnan, Georgia, around 37.7 miles southwest of Atlanta, matched all six numbers of the jackpot drawing and won the $983 million jackpot, according to a Mega Millions news release.

The historic ticket, which had an estimated cash value of $453.6 million, is also the largest lottery win in the state's history.

"We are thrilled to congratulate the largest winner in our state’s history," Gretchen Corbin, Georgia Lottery's president and CEO, said in a statement. "With every Mega Millions ticket sold in Georgia supporting HOPE and Pre-K, Georgia’s students and families are also big winners. We appreciate our players and retailers for their support of our mission."

This is the fifth Mega Millions jackpot win of 2025, following the $348 million jackpot in Virginia on June 27, USA TODAY previously reported.
