According to Netgear, 25% of the world’s public Wi-Fi hotspots have no encryption or password. This lack of security is a real risk for anyone who has to use public Wi-Fi in cafés and hotels. The networking company also says that 62% of companies with remote workers have suffered at least one data breach from employees accessing the company network by using public Wi-Fi.
Some 69% of all internet users have accessed the internet using a public Wi-Fi hotspot, which can expose their computer and data to hackers. The risk is real and the more you access public Wi-Fi hotspots, the higher the risk that you’ll suffer some sort of hack or data breach. And with fines for data breaches reaching eye-watering levels, online safety for companies has never been more important.
Networking giant Netgear released these shocking statistics during the launch of its new and more affordable personal Wi-Fi travel hotspot which is aimed at business users who need high-speed internet but can’t risk using insecure public Wi-Fi hoyspots. The Netgear Nighthawk M7 — or MH7150 — is a new Wi-Fi travel hotspot with innovative new features and a lower price than Netgear’s Nighthawk M7 Pro.
