he decision by Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to release Boualem Sansal is, of course, a source of joy for us, the relatives and friends of Christophe Gleizes, as we are particularly well-placed to understand the happiness of the writer's family, who was freed after nearly one year in detention.

But our Christophe is still in prison. He was arrested on May 28, 2024, in Algeria, before being released under conditional release with the obligation to check in every day at the police station and a ban on leaving the country. On June 29, he was sentenced to seven years in prison for his work as a sports journalist. He is now awaiting his appeal trial, which is scheduled for December 3 in Tizi Ouzou, from his cell.
