Alleging that the closure of 200 Mohalla Clinics on Wednesday left hundreds of staff unemployed and deprived millions of residents of free medical care, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday accused the government of betraying public trust.

AAP legislator Kuldeep Kumar said the BJP government in Delhi was built on “false promises”. “Prime Minister [Narendra] Modi and the BJP had assured Delhiites that no welfare scheme launched under [AAP national convener and former CM] Arvind Kejriwal would be discontinued. But the moment they came to power, those promises were forgotten. The people of Delhi always feared the BJP could never represent the common man, and that fear has now become a reality,” he said.

“The CM promised no one would lose their job, yet she has taken away livelihoods,” he added.
