The recent blast near Red Fort has left residents on edge, with multiple hoax bomb calls and false alarms pouring in, reflecting the widespread anxiety and fear gripping the city.

A loud noise in south-west Delhi’s Mahipalpur on Thursday morning sparked concerns of a blast, but was later attributed to the burst tyre of a Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) bus. According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (South West) Amit Goel, a call was received at 9.19 a.m. regarding a suspected blast in the area.

“The caller was contacted and it was informed that while on the way to Gurugram, a loud noise was heard. During local enquiry, a guard informed that the rear tyre of a DTC bus going towards Dhaula Kuan had burst,” he said.

As per reports, just hours after the car explosion on November 10, the Delhi Fire Services (DFS) received five calls regarding “unclaimed baggages”, all of which turned out to be hoax. From 2 p.m. on Thursday, the DFS again received nine such calls.

The Delhi airport also received a bomb threat on Wednesday, which was later deemed a hoax.
