A Shoebill, a rare and majestic prehistoric-looking bird known for its large shoe-shaped bill and long legs, landed on a boat in Mabamba Bay, Uganda, providing a unique sight for bird-watching enthusiasts.
In a social media post, Mabambatrips shared footage of an exotic bird, captioned, "Today, another unforgettable moment was created as the shoebill flew onto our boat."
The stork-like Shoebills are typically found in the swamps of East and Central Africa, with populations located in countries such as South Sudan, Uganda, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Zambia. While Shoebills are not aggressive, they are not typically friendly but are often docile and calm around humans.
It is estimated that there are between 3,300 and 5,300 shoebills remaining in the wild, and they are classified as a vulnerable species, which means they are at a high risk of extinction.
