Admittedly there are very few things I like about cold-weather fashion. As a born and raised Floridian ― who rarely experienced temps under 50 degrees growing up ― I feel more myself in a sundress and sandals than jeans and boots. One of the few upsides of cooler temperatures, however? Sweaters. In my humble opinion, there is no garment more perfect than a comfy, cozy sweater. Since moving to the northeast more than a decade ago, I’ve amassed a huge collection of them. I’ve tried so many that I consider myself an expert (if it’s possible to be such a thing) and I’m constantly telling anyone who comments on what I’m wearing where it’s from. Simply put, we should all be wearing more sweaters. In the spirit of influencing, I’ve rounded up a few of my favorites of this season. Trust me when I say they’re worth adding to your wardrobe. Scroll through the options belowGapAn oversized cotton sweater that I influenced several of my colleagues to buyThis sweater is the It Girl of my wardrobe this season thanks to its versatility and quality. In fact, it’s so good that I convinced a handful of my coworkers to buy it for themselves (one day we’ll all match at the office). You can wear this sweater as a layer or on its own. I’ve styled it tied around my shoulders, over T-shirts, with skirts, with lounge pants ― you name it. The cotton fabric makes it feel elevated with zero itchiness. Plus, as a tall person, I appreciate that it comes in a longer length option. Gap is regularly releasing new colorways and restocking when it sells out; you can also snag a cropped version of it in different colors at Gap Factory as well.GapThe same-ish silhouette in men’s sizingThis is the men’s version of the previous option. It comes in a handful of different color options (I own it in brown!) and is often listed at a lower price point than the women’s version. There are some slight differences ― while the women’s version has a drop shoulder, then men’s is a more traditional fit. It also it a little lighter weight. Old NavyAn exceptionally soft cardigan available in tons of colorsOld Navy has been crushing it with their styles lately, and this cardigan is no exception. It’s part of the brand’s “SoSoft” line, which is marketed as a product that “feels like cashmere.” While I can certainly tell the difference between this fabric ― which is made of cotton, polyester, nylon and spandex ― and real cashmere, I also can’t deny that it is truly, well, so soft. It’s another piece that you could dress up or wear more casually, and it comes in a zillion different colors and patterns. Most of the colorways will run you $37 right now, but a handful of styles are on sale starting at just $18.GapMy beloved silhouette in a cable knitWash, rinse, repeat. If Gap has no fans, I am dead. This is the runner-up to my It Girl sweater, just in a cable knit pattern for those who want to live out their “Gilmore Girls” or “You’ve Got Mail” fall dreams. One personal note worth sharing: My experience with the fit varied slightly from the plain version. Although I ordered the same size in both, I found this to be a little wider ― definitely falls into the oversized category.QuinceA cotton crewneck at a sharp price pointQuince, a brand that bills itself as a more affordable alternative to luxury items, also carries its own cotton crewneck. This sweater is a great alternative to Gap’s version at a somewhat lower price point, with the main differences being its length and color options (I’m currently waiting on a restock of the redwood brown colorway). It works great as a layering piece and you reap the itch-free benefits of the fabric. Win-win.J.CrewA reanimated classicJ.Crew’s internet-beloved rollneck pullover went viral on TikTok earlier this season ― and for a good reason. If you’re searching for a high-neck sweater without the volume of a turtleneck, look no further. It has a relaxed fit and goes up to a size 3X; it’s also 100% cotton. J.CrewOr a men’s version that you can get in some fun stripesNever fear: The popular rollneck also comes in a men’s version, featuring different colorways and a seemingly more oversized fit. Free PeopleA longline cardigan (with pockets!) that stays in my Nuuly cartIn addition to be a sweater collector, I’m also an avid Nuuly lover. The rental service, which is part of Free People’s parent group URBN, has carried me through multiple cold-weather seasons ― and this Free People cardigan is a staple in my rotation. I’ve rented it in multiple colors over the years. It can be dressed up or down, but I mostly rely on it when I want to feel like I’m wearing a cozy robe. It’s definitely oversized, so you can consider sizing down if you want something slightly more fitted. ZapposA popular Free People sweater that’s almost totally sold outI am an unapologetic millennial who still clings to leggings and a sweater as my go-to uniform during chilly weather. If you, like me, also refuse to give up this outfit formula, meet the Free People Phoebe sweater. It’s the perfect length for leggings and is oversized without looking frumpy. Some reviews complain about the itchiness of the fabric, which consists of nylon, acrylic, wool and elastane. I personally haven’t had that experience. It’s the ideal top for when you want to appear like you have it all together, but in reality you just want to be comfortable. While it’s no longer sold on Free People’s site, you can grab it from a few stores like Nordstrom (limited sizing here!) and Zappos.Close Trending In ShoppingMore In Shopping
