The longest federal government shutdown in U.S. history ended Wednesday night as President Donald Trump signed a funding bill into law that will resume all government functions for the first time in 43 days.

The House passed the bill in a 222-209 vote.

The House vote comes two days after the Senate approved the bill in a 60-40 vote, with the help of eight members of the Senate Democratic Caucus who crossed the aisle.
