Everything old was new again for Vice President JD Vance on Wednesday after social media posts he made about the Jeffrey Epstein scandal from 2021 resurfaced. The timing was awkward for the vice president considering Democrats on the House Oversight Committee released three shocking emails from Epstein where he hints to confidants just how aware Donald Trump was of his criminal acts. After the emails became public, CNN’s Andrew Kaczynski reposted two tweets Vance made in 2021 that discuss the Epstein scandal. In one of the posts, Vance says he thinks about a 2019 column from “The Week” headlined, “The Jeffrey Epstein case is why people believe in Pizzagate,” “about once a month.”The article focuses on whether Trump was “speaking from personal experience when he said in 2002 that Epstein ‘likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side.’”In a follow-up tweet, Vance noted that the scandal at the time seemed to have been swept under the carpet and wondered why that might be. “Remember when we learned that our wealthiest and most powerful people were connected to a guy who ran a literal child sex trafficking ring?” Vance wrote on his account. “And then that guy died mysteriously in a jail? And now we just don’t talk about it.”Remember when we learned that our wealthiest and most powerful people were connected to a guy who ran a literal child sex trafficking ring? And then that guy died mysteriously in a jail? And now we just don't talk about it.— JD Vance (@JDVance) September 4, 2021Kaczynski also posted another 2021 tweet Vance made about the Epstein scandal. This one seemed especially relevant in 2025, considering how Trump’s minions are stalling on releasing the files despite previous promises.“What possible interest would the US government have in keeping Epstein’s clients secret? Oh…” Vance asked rhetorically in December 2021.Close
