Former “Dawson’s Creek” star James Van Der Beek is putting some of his celebrity artifacts up for auction next month as he navigates a cancer diagnosis.
The 48-year-old actor and father of six shared last November that he was diagnosed with stage 3 colorectal cancer. On Wednesday, he announced that he will be selling some cherished items he’s saved over the years in order to pay for medical expenses.
One of the pieces Van Der Beek is selling in Propstore’s Winter Entertainment Memorabilia Live Auction running Dec. 5 to 7 is the necklace his character on “Dawson’s Creek” gave to Katie Holmes’ character, Joey, for prom.
That necklace is expected to sell for between $26,400 to $52,800, while the outfit Van Der Beek wore on the “Dawson’s Creek” pilot could bring in as much as $4,000.
Meanwhile, fans of Van Der Beek’s 1999 film, “Varsity Blues,” could buy the cleats he wore for as much as $2,600.
