Jack Schlossberg, the grandson of John F. Kennedy, will run for US Congress, he told his supporters on Tuesday.
The only grandson to the late former president JFK, Schlossberg, 32, is best known for his provocative and outspoken political commentary online.
He is seeking to fill the congressional seat being vacated by New York Representative Jerrold Nadler, who announced in September that he would retire after more than three decades in office.
In an interview earlier on Tuesday, the son of the Kennedys' daughter Caroline told the New York Times that he felt the Democrats needed more voices to "push back on perceived abuses of power by President Trump and his allies".
With almost 2 million followers collectively across Instagram and TikTok, the Kennedy heir has been open about his goals to make politics accessible for younger voters.
