Nov. 10 (UPI) -- Ghislaine Maxwell is planning to ask President Donald Trump for a commutation for her sex trafficking conviction related to the late Jeffrey Epstein, House Democrats said Monday.

Rep. Jamie Raskin, the ranking Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee, sent a letter to Trump on Sunday seeking information about a commutation application Maxwell is allegedly preparing. Democrats on the committee said a whistleblower showed them evidence of the application, which CBS News also viewed.

The letter to Trump said that the application was "undoubtedly coming to you for your direct consideration."

"The warden herself is directly helping Ms. Maxwell copy, print and send documents related to this application."
