Antonio Banderas is to get a lifetime achievement award from the Turin Film Festival this month, organisers said Monday.

The twelfth-ever Star of the Mole Antonelliana at the Torino Film Festival will be awarded to the Spanish-born actor, who will attend the opening night on November 21st at the Teatro Regio, and will present Pedro Almodóvar's film Pain and Glory the following day.

Artistic Director Giulio Base announced the award at a meeting in Turin.

"Antonio Banderas, forged in Almodóvar's creative forge and capable of conquering Hollywood, embodies the image of the total actor: a performer of dizzying depth and at the same time a global sex symbol of his generation.

"He travels the world without ever betraying his roots, always bringing a Mediterranean light to every role.
