The third vessel of the Survey Vessel Large (SVL) class, INS Ikshak, was commissioned into the Indian Navy at a ceremonial event held at Naval Base in Kochi on Thursday (November 6, 2025).
The ceremony was presided over by Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi, Chief of the Naval Staff. Senior naval officers, veterans, representatives from Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE), and distinguished dignitaries attended the event.

The Navy informed that the commissioning marks a significant step in strengthening India’s hydrographic survey and maritime operational capabilities. On arrival at the venue, the Navy chief was accorded a 50-men guard of honour.
The ceremony began with the reading of the Commissioning Warrant by Captain Tribhuvan Singh, the Commanding Officer. This was followed by the hoisting of the Naval Ensign and Commissioning Pennant, accompanied by the national anthem and ceremonial salute. The Commissioning Plaque was unveiled by the Admiral Tripathi.
