Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) didn’t mince words on Monday when asked how she felt about President Donald Trump. “He’s just a vile creature,” she told CNN, then attempted to sum up the president in just nine words: “The worst thing on the face of the Earth.” Asked why, Pelosi ― a former House speaker ― didn’t hold back, offering a list of problems she has with the president. “Because he’s the president of the United States and he does not honor the Constitution of the United States,” she said. “In fact, he’s turned the Supreme Court into a rogue court. He’s abolished the House of Representatives. He’s chilled the press... he’s scared people who are in our country legally.” Pelosi was referring to a number of actions by Trump, who has been frequently accused of ignoring and disregarding the Constitution, as the Supreme Court, a third of which he appointed, often looks the other way. Pelosi’s claim of an “abolished” House refers to the chamber being in recess for more than a month. House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) has said it’s because the House passed spending bills and is waiting for the Senate to act amid the government shutdown. However, critics say Trump doesn’t want the House in session because when it returns, there will likely be enough votes to force the release of files related to late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, a former friend of the president. He’s “chilled the press” with massive lawsuits against major media companies and threats against news organizations, and his deportation program has frightened even some legal immigrants, as well as American citizens, who have been caught up in federal raids.
