Nov. 3 (UPI) -- Indonesian officials stopped construction of a large glass elevator project at world-renowned Kelingking Beach in Bali.

The 597-foot elevator in Nusa Penida built by Chinese developer China Kaishi Group was halted over concerns over building violations.

The cliff-altering project construction has taken place over the last year. But Kelingking Beach remains open to the public.
