As Trump officials and betting markets expect an extended shutdown into mid-November, experts say travelers can take simple steps to protect their Thanksgiving travel plans from ruin.

Seven out of 10 Americans (70%) say they are concerned about flight delays and cancellations impacting their holiday plans this year, according to a recent survey by the deal-finding travel app Hopper.

As of Monday morning, betting markets Kalshi and Polymarket are predicting the government shutdown will run 46 days (until Nov. 15) and 63 days (until Dec. 2), respectively.
