At least nine devotees were killed in a tragic stampede at Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Kasibugga, Palasa mandal of Srikakulam district, in Andhra Pradesh on Saturday (November 1, 2025).
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu took to social media to express shock over the casualties. He also said that he has directed officials to ensure better treatment for the injured persons and added that he instructed the authorities and local leaders to monitor the relief work at the stampede site.

The police official said that the incident occurred due to the collapse of an iron grill near the steps. The public, in fear, thought that something was falling and panicked.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed condolences to the victims and announced an ex-gratia payment of ₹2 lakh each to the kin of the victims. The injured individuals will also be provided with ₹50,000.
