Centre-left opposition Democratic Party (PD) leader Elly Schlein asked whether Premier Giorgia Meloni would remain silent about Fascist chants by her Brothers of Italy (FdI) youth chapter National Youth (GN) at FdI's Parma office on the October 28 anniversary of the March on Rome, after allegedly not condemning previous such episodes involving GN.
"It's very serious.
We await a distancing from Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
Or perhaps she will remain silent this time too? Who knows,"Schlein commented on the chants of Il Duce and Black Shirts Will Triumph at the FdI headquarters in the Emilian city on the anniversary of the Fascist march that ushered in Mussolini's dictatorship in 1922.
In July last year Meloni condemned a previous episode of Fascist, antisemitic and racist remarks by members of GN in Rome, but critics said she did not do so clearly enough.
