Legendary media figure and longtime CBS Mornings anchor, Gayle King, is expected to leave her position following a massive shakeup at CBS News.
King, who has been in her position for more than a decade, is expected to depart the program next May when her contract expires, Variety first reported Thursday. While she’s expected to leave her role as anchor, sources told Variety that she might produce her own program for the network.
The move comes just weeks after Bari Weiss, a conservative opinion columnist, was announced as CBS News’ editor-in-chief. The deal is part of a Trump administration-approved merger between Skydance and Paramount.
CBS Evening News anchor John Dickerson announced Monday he is leaving the network at the end of the year.
And on Wednesday, CBS News eliminated several of its programs and laid off 1,000 workers.
