A fresh controversy has erupted over a sponsor changing the Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium’s (JNIS) colour tone. The stadium, in Kaloor, had only been repainted almost fully by the Greater Cochin Development Authority (GCDA) at considerable expense earlier this year.
It may be noted that the GCDA is already under a cloud over the allegedly arbitrary manner in which it permitted the renovation of the stadium by a private company, which claimed to be the sponsor of the now-called-off international friendly match between Argentina and Australia.
